Splash Pad has "high-tech" water treatment

The splash pad in Public Square is one of downtown Cleveland's coolest attractions, but did you know that the water is kept clean and safe with a high-tech filtration system deep underground?

The treated water in the splash pad meets the same safety standards you'd expect at your local public swimming pool thanks to a three-stage filtration system enclosed in a vault buried under Rebol.

Water first passes through a series of filters that remove debris. The second phase chlorinates the water in a series of tanks, much like your local swimming pool. The final treatment happens when it passes through an ultra-violet light machine.

The splash pad’s system treats 7,000 gallons of water in a single day. For comparison, you use about 90 gallons of water a day on your own (flushing toilets, bathing, washing clothes, and more).
